Leah Horowitz was most recently seen at the Kennedy Center in the hit revival of Stephen Sondheim's Follies as Young Heidi; this role afforded her the great privilege of singing "One More Kiss" with opera legend Rosalind Elias.  Leah will reprise her role in the upcoming Broadway production of the show.  In 2007, Leah took over the role of Cosette in the Broadway revival of Les Miserables. Her other Broadway credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie, the 2004 revival of La Cage Aux Folles (understudied and performed the role of Anne), Fiddler on the Roof with Harvey Fierstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White (understudied the role of Marian Halcombe), and White Christmas (Tessie).

Regionally, Leah played the Baroness Elisabeth Kemény in Wallenberg, a new musical, at the White Plains Performing Arts Center (WPPAC).  Leah played Magnolia in Showboat in the St Louis Muny's 2010 season and was nominated for a Kevin Kline Award (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical) for that performance.  She has played Cosette in productions of Les Miserables at the Muny, The Marriott Lincolnshire in IL, and TUTS in Houston, TX. Other regional credits include Marry Me A Little (Woman) at the Dorset Theatre Festival in VT, Meet Me in St Louis (Rose) and West Side Story (Maria) at Surflight Theatre in NJ, and My Way (Woman 2) at the Theatre Barn in upstate NY. Leah often appears in composer/lyricist Neil Berg's concert series, singing classic and contemporary Broadway material in theaters across the US.  Internationally, Leah was an original cast member of Encore! at Tokyo Disney Sea, and the lead soprano in the European tour of New York to Broadway.

In 2008, Leah was privileged to sing with the Baltimore Symphony in Leonard Bernstein’s MASS, conducted by Marin Alsop. As part of the Bernstein centennial celebration, MASS played in NYC at Carnegie Hall and the United Palace Theatre, in D.C. at the Kennedy Center and at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore. The recording of MASS, available from Naxos American, was nominated for a Grammy.  In New York, Leah was recently seen in 8Minute Musicals (NYMF '10), played Emma Lazarus in the workshop of Liberty: A New Musical, was the title character in Emma: A New Musical (NYMF ’07), worked with Theatre 1010 on An Evening with Gilbert and Sullivan (Lead Soprano) and The Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), and played Casilda in The Gondoliers at The Gallery Players and with the Village Light Opera Group.  She is currently playing Baroness Elizabeth Kemeny in Wallenberg: A New Musical Drama at the White Plains Performing Arts Center.

Leah has worked extensively with Fred Ebb‐award‐winning composer Adam Gwon. In February 2009, she performed with Gwon at the Kennedy Center as part of the Broadway: The 3rd Generation series. Leah originated the role of Mattie Silver in readings of Gwon’s
musical Ethan Frome (based on Wharton’s novel). She also originated the role of Claire in Gwon’s original musical Ordinary Days in two NYC readings, a recording, and the first full production at Pennsylvania Centre Stage. Leah can be heard many recordings of Gwon’s
work (visit www.adamgwon.com).

Leah has also done extensive work on jingles. She has recorded demos for Barbie, Zest, Visa, NY Lotto, and many others. You may have heard her voice singing “Mm, mm, good!” on Campbell’s Soup TV spots. She thoroughly enjoys working with new composers, recording demos of new musicals, and loves being in the studio.

Leah was born and raised on Staten Island. After a childhood filled with community theater, she attended Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, and studied voice privately with Elena Heimur. Leah went on to earn a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied musical theater at CAP‐21 and spent a semester at Stonestreet Film and Television. She now lives in Manhattan.
